DESCRIPTION:The Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge\, a distributed cooking competition\, engages over twenty restaurants and over a thousand diners in creating delicious\, widely-available vegan dishes each year. \nVegan Caribbean Bowl\, from the Chart House\, was part of the 2025 Challenge. The dish is now on the Chart House’s permanent menu! \nCompassionate Action for Animals has been organizing Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge since 2019\, initially launching the program with support from Vegan Outreach. Each year\, many hours of invisible\, behind-the-scenes work from both volunteers and restaurants help to create a widespread\, delicious chef challenge. \nCommittee members help to recruit new restaurants\, update the website\, create certificate names\, and more. Enormous thanks to all of the challenge’s current and past committee members who have created such amazing programming! The Challenge could not happen without their work. Want to be part of the team? Come to this meeting to learn more and find your place. \nMeeting & committee details: \n\nHybrid Interest Meeting: This interest meeting is hybrid. DESCRIPTION:Want to help make delicious plant-based cuisine more accessible in the Twin Cities? Come join the team behind one of the most exciting culinary events of the year! Attend our upcoming informational meeting to learn more. \n\nEvent Details\nA restaurant “passport” at Thai Garden!  \nJoin us for a meeting to learn about the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge and discover how you can become part of our dynamic event planning committee.  The committee takes on tasks ranging from restaurant recruitment to press outreach to social media promotion–with support. Whether you’re a longtime vegan\, plant-curious\, or simply love great food\, your perspective and efforts are invaluable to making this the best Challenge yet! \nHow to Join\nThis informational event is hybrid\, with an option to join via the Zoom link or to attend in person (directions here). There will be snacks at the CAA office! \nCommittee Responsibilities\nCommittee involvement involves an hourly weekly meeting\, and a self-selected amount of work (think 1-3hrs/week) outside of meetings. Our collective committee responsibilities include: \n\nRestaurant recruitment and relations\nMarketing and promotional material design\nEvent coordination and execution\nCommunity outreach\nSocial media posting\n\nNo previous experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm and ideas! \nCommittee meetings run each Thursday from the end of May through Thursday\, September 11. Future committee meetings will be weekly each Thursday (except August 7) from 6pm-7pm. Each meeting has vegan snacks available for the in-person attendees. For our last meeting\, we will have an in-person celebratory dinner together. \nIf you’ve been involved with the Challenge before in any capacity and feel that you’re ready to commit to volunteering without an orientation\, you’re welcome to email Abbey to be included in committee meetings! \nWhat is the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Challenge?\n2024 Grand Prize Winner: Jackfruit Tikka Masala from the Himalayan\, with an avg diner rating of 9.5/10.  \nThroughout August\, local restaurants compete to create innovative plant-based dishes that showcase the incredible possibilities of vegan cuisine. Diners from across the metro area dine out to try these creations and rate the dishes.  The winning restaurant will receive a cash prize at our awards ceremony during the Twin Cities Veg Fest in September. \nThis Year’s Exciting Addition: Pending restaurant interest\, we’ll be hosting a special in-person collaborative event in August where multiple chefs will sample their challenge dishes to voters at one venue! \nWhy Join Our Committee?\n\nMake a direct impact on the Twin Cities food scene — for the past two years\, a third of competing restaurants have kept their menu items available in the long-term\nDevelop valuable event planning and marketing skills\nGive some well-deserved love to the delicious vegan food in the Twin Cities\nConnect with passionate food lovers and sustainability and animal rights advocates\nBe part of a welcoming community and connect with other committee members\n\nEveryone is welcome.
