SUMMARY:4th of July Vegan Potluck
DESCRIPTION:Compassionate Action for Animals wants to celebrate with you! Join us for a relaxing afternoon of vegan food and fun with neighbors\, family and friends. All are welcome. Find us at the picnic shelter at Wabun Picnic Shelter B at Minnehaha Regional Park. The potluck will be held rain or shine. \nWhat to Bring\nA muffin tin of different foods at a past holiday potluck. \nHere’s what you can bring: \n\nIf your last name begins with A-G: side dish or salad\nIf your last name begins with H-S: hearty main dish\nIf your last name begins with T-Z: beverage or dessert\n\n(If you have a super-special family recipe you’d like to share with the group\, don’t sweat the categories above too much — bring your best!) \nPlease also bring: \n\nA list of ingredients for your dish. (We’ll have paper and tape available if you forget — be sure to know exactly what is in your dish so everyone with allergies can safely eat.)\nA serving utensil for your dish.\nYour own plates\, cups\, and silverware to save on waste! We will have single-use items available if you forget.\nFriends and family! Feel free to invite your friends and family\, regardless of if they are omnivore\, vegan\, or vegetarian.\n\nWhere is this event? \nThe Park: Minnehaha Regional Park — better known as Minnehaha Falls — is located at 4801 S Minnehaha Drive\, Minneapolis MN 55417. \nThe Shelter: Wabun B shelter is one of two shelters next to the wading pool in the park. If you come along Godfrey Pkwy and then turn onto 46th Ave into the park\, take the first left and you will soon arrive very near the picnic shelter. You can find a map of Minnehaha Regional Park with the picnic shelters labeled here. The street address for the Wabun Picnic Area specifically is 4655 46th Ave S\, Minneapolis\, MN 55417. \nSignage: We’ll have a CAA sign up at the shelter. We aren’t allowed to set up signage or chalk outside of our event area. Look at the signage on shelters and check the above descriptions to know where to find us. \nParking: There are pay parking lots\, free parking lots\, and metered streets available in various areas around the park. While we don’t know of any bike racks nearby\, people who bike are welcome to keep their bikes near and/or locked to the picnic shelter. \nOther Details\n\nWe’ll have some fun activities such as Frisbees\, corn hole\, and other games.\nAlcohol (and any other mind-altering substances) are not permitted during the event.\nArrive within the first hour for the best selection of food.\nYou can RSVP via MeetUp or Facebook.\nThis is a family-friendly event!\n\nWe’ll have a kids’ table available with coloring sheets and Rubik’s cubes. Children are welcome to sit either at the kids’ table or with their families at other tables.\nAttendees are responsible for keeping an eye on their children during the event.\nThere’s a nearby playground.\nOur picnic shelter is right next to the wading pool.\n\n\nThis is a dog-friendly event!\n\nLeashed\, well-behaved dogs are welcome.\nAttendees are responsible for keeping an eye on their dogs during the event.\nThere is a nearby off-leash dog park a mile down the road/path at 5399 Minnehaha Park Drive S\, reachable by walking or driving\, for a fun after-picnic activity.\n\n\n\nNew to Vegan Cooking? \nWe’re so glad you’re doing some vegan cooking! Omnivores are welcome at the event. All food at the event should be vegan. “Vegan” means not including meat\, fish\, dairy\, eggs\, honey\, or other animal products. DESCRIPTION:The July 2025 cooking group potluck \nIf you are interested in eating yummy vegan food\, need some new recipes to add to your menu\, and want to have great conversations with like-minded people\, this group is for you! \nEach potluck\, we make dishes with a specific theme. The theme for July will be announced and posted here when it is decided! Prepare a main dish\, side dish\, dessert\, or appetizer that fits the theme. \nYour dish should not contain any meat\, eggs\, dairy\, fish\, butter\, honey\, or derivatives of these products. Please bring the recipe or the list of ingredients to share\, and please bring a reusable plate to cut down on waste. \nWe will meet in the youth room of Salem Covenant Church – 339 North 59th Ave. W in Duluth. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Feel free to bring your veg-friendly friends and family! \nThis group is sponsored by Compassionate Action for Animals and is a welcoming and non-judgmental group.
