Compassionate Action for Animals (CAA) is a Minnesota-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering empathy for animals and promoting a plant-based lifestyle. Guided by our mission, vision, and core values, our Board of Directors plays a critical role in shaping strategy, ensuring accountability, and supporting the long-term sustainability of the organization.

Expectations & Commitment:

Time commitment: 3–5 hours per month, including meetings.

Board meetings happen every other month. Board members must attend at least 5 of 6 meetings each year, reading materials in advance and participating in discussions.

Optional involvement in ad hoc committees (e.g., development).

Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership, strategic planning, and ensure programs’ alignment with CAA’s mission and values.

Approve budgets, monitor financial health, and support fundraising efforts.

Hire, evaluate, and support the Executive Director.

Help to recruit and onboard new board members.

Contribution:

Board members are expected to demonstrate leadership in giving — to make an annual financial contribution at a personally meaningful level and/or to actively support fundraising events.
